Snow tonight?? You sure?

Where are we today?
Max Meadows, VA

Firstly, welcome to the blog, Bea and her hubby (??? J.P.???). New readers.

The weather report for tonight and tomorrow is not too good (rain and maybe snow), so we decided to cough up the money to stay at a campground. There being no Coast to Coast resorts around here and all the Passport America Campgrounds, in the area, have terrible reviews, we found this campground, called Pioneer Village Resort, on our Camp & RV app on the iPad.

The reviews were good so we decided to give it a try. It is close to the I81 and in a very pretty location with a river running past it's north edge. The trees are still small as the campground has only opened in the past couple of years. The staff have gone out of their way to make sure we had a nice site that suited our motor home. One of the owners came over to our site to give us information and to take the payment. They even gave us a discount as they do honour memberships with a 10% off. The internet is free and good (I am picking it up via my Wifi Ranger). We have full hookup with 50 amps. I suggested they become a Passport America campground to increase their traffic, especially with all the snowbirds traveling to and from in the shoulder seasons.

Tonight we will have the electric heater and mattress cover turned on. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Site is on a slope so the front is jacked up really high.
This campground is almost empty. They could have a whole lot more RVs if they were a Passport America campground.

Here is our route thus far.

  1. Good to have a heated mattress cover!

To make it more difficult: My hubby was baptized "Jens-Peter" (pronounce 'J' in Jens like 'yellow'). When I met him in Norway he wanted me to call him Jens. OK. But, his parents and family always called him Peter (the German version). My parents and family called him Jens. In Norway he was known as
"Jens-Petter". On this continent he became Peeeter (the English version) because Jens is so hard to pronounce. Some even say Peetzki. And now I call him J.P. in my blog. What a mess! :)))

  2. We were in Max Meadows last night!!! We opted to stay at the Fort Chiswell RV Park :-) Nice enough for an overnighter, with 50Amp FHU and free, good wi-fi. I'll keep the park you stayed at in mind if we find ourselves back in the area for a longer stay.

  3. Question...how are you getting the letters on your route? Are you saving the route and adding to it or doing it over each time. I can't get mine to work correctly. Thanks for the help

    1. Tomorrow when we get our next destination I will come to my blog and under the map, I will click onto "View Larger Map" to open my map in Google. After I have added the new location, I go the link icon in the upper left, then I click in the box below where it says "Paste HTML to embed in website". Then right click and copy the code. Paste the code onto your blog on the HTML tab of your post window. Go back to the Compose tab to see if it appears correctly and to continue your narrative, images etc. Hope you can figure this out.

    2. from the map it looks like your near the area i spent lots of summers in Pulaski/Giles county, Virginia, and some small towns called Narrows, Pearisburg, Staffordsville and Dublin.
Theres an area called the Cascades, near Mountain Lake, one of the locations that they filled Dirty Dancing. The Cascades, near Pembroke, Va - have a couple hiking trails along side a rushing stream ending at a large waterfall, might be worth a stop over if you get the chance.

  4. We have never read a review on a resort, to stop for one night a pull thru is nice so we don't have to disconnect the car. We have good neighbor parks, 1/2 price as well, with C to C, AOR and ROD .
Stay toasty warm and drive safe it is starting to warm up here by the weekend.

  6. Been I while since I've dropped by! Imagine my surprise to see the heading MAX MEADOWS. We stayed at the Ft. Chiswell RV Park for a week last Sept. I have a nephew who lives in Wytheville and another down to road in Rurual Retreat.

    Happy traveling!
