Surf's Up!!

This afternoon we took a drive down to Oceanside Pier. The surf is very high because of a storm out in the Pacific near Japan. There were a lot of people out with cameras taking photos. We walked along the pier watching the surfers catching the big waves. Then we walked to the end of the pier and had an early supper at Ruby's Diner.

We are now home watching TV and computing.

P.S. We realized soon after we got home that Michael had lost his Cocoon Slim Line Sunglasses . I called Ruby's and yes, they are there. We will be going back to the pier on Saturday morning to pick them. He loves them as they fit right over his glasses and don't look as if he has just had eye surgery.

While the Cat's Away....

Michael was photographing humming birds at the feeder just outside the Seneca window.

All's well on the Western Front!

The day has dawned, bright and sunny and V is so much better. She is taking pain killers which are keeping the pain at bay. Last night we watched Secretariat. What a great movie! If you haven't seen it, buy it or rent it.

The other movie is A Walk in the Clouds. Haven't watched it yet, but will do tonight.

So, I am heading back to Escondido RV Resort and maybe will go for a bike ride, or go to the beach. Or not. Isn't it great that we can decide on the spur of the moment what we want to do?

I've left Michael!

To stay overnight at V's home. She is in a lot of pain from her Christmas Day fall and could not get out of bed this morning. The doc thinks it is a deep tissue injury with a hematoma which has burst. The bruising, which was not apparent the first few days, now reaches almost up to her waist. So here I am, sleeping in a building for the first time in a long while. She has been advised to take it easy with a minimal amount of walking. So no adventures this week. Hopefully next week she will be well enough to do something.

Meanwhile I have downloaded a couple of books for her to read on her new Kindle Touch. One of them is called Motohuma the Firehead by Jennifer Munro. It is the story of a girl born and raised in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe (where I was born and raised) whose family has a big secret. Quite an enjoyable read. The other one is The Peachkeeper.

Bought roast chicken and salad for dinner and two videos to watch, Secretariat and some Keanu Reeves movie. C'est la vie!

Wonderful Wednesday??? Not!

When we got over to Virginia's condo we found her in considerable pain. Pain in her pelvis/tail bone and also in her shoulders. So we did not go out for her Wonderful Wednesday. If she is feeling better tomorrow or the next day we will have a Thrilling Thursday or a Fantastic Friday instead. So we helped around the house with some chores that needed doing and went and did a bit of grocery shopping. The Chateau at San Marcos provides her with a 3-4 course meal every day, but she does like to have a few snacks on hand.

It was HOT here today with the temperature getting up to about 90F. The thing about this the weather here is that it cools down really quickly in the evening as there is no cloud cover to hold the heat in. So much like Rhodesia now called Zimbabwe. Makes me feel quite homesick.
