A really busy week.

Where are we today?

On Monday the 27th we took Greg to San Diego Airport for his trip back home to Toronto. We went back to the condo at The Chateau and started getting the place ready for the visit of Virginia's friend from Seattle. Virginia and Ila have known each other for 80 years!! Now that is a friendship! Ila and her daughter, Peggy, arrived on Thursday March 1st and moved into the condo for 3 nights. Michael and I took the motorhome over to Bernardo Winery under the Harvest Hosts membership.

Moving Day

Today we put the Seneca into storage and moved into Virginia's condo at the Chateau at Lake San Marcos.

After lunch we took Virginia down to Tri-Cities hospital to have more cortisone injected into her hips, in the hope that she will be able to walk again. She has also developed a urinary tract infection and is now on anti-biotics. One thing after another. I really pray that she will at least of her old life back.

I am still staying at Virginia's as the cortisone into her hip has not worked at all. She is unable to put any weight onto her right leg and even turning it slightly is very painful for her.

It was such a stunning day today. We went to the Brunch at the Chateau. What a spread! This is like no other Retirement Home I have ever been to. Here are some photos of the choices and some of the wonderful staff.

After brunch we loaded V and her wheelchair into the car and drove east to Julian, stopping off at Dudley's Bakery on the way.

Wonderful Wednesday??? Not!

When we got over to Virginia's condo we found her in considerable pain. Pain in her pelvis/tail bone and also in her shoulders. So we did not go out for her Wonderful Wednesday. If she is feeling better tomorrow or the next day we will have a Thrilling Thursday or a Fantastic Friday instead. So we helped around the house with some chores that needed doing and went and did a bit of grocery shopping. The Chateau at San Marcos provides her with a 3-4 course meal every day, but she does like to have a few snacks on hand.

It was HOT here today with the temperature getting up to about 90F. The thing about this the weather here is that it cools down really quickly in the evening as there is no cloud cover to hold the heat in. So much like Rhodesia now called Zimbabwe. Makes me feel quite homesick.

Wonderful Wednesdays!!!

For Christmas we gave Virginia a Kindle Touch 3G. She previously has a Kindle 3G with keyboard which she found very difficult to navigate.

Another gift we have given her is Wonderful Wednesdays. This is a surprise gift that we will give to her every Wednesday. I got this idea from a Facebook friend of mine, who always had a special adventure on Fridays. Tomorrow we are going to do some pre-arranged chores around Vista, San Marcos and Oceanside and then we will take her to dinner at Fish House Vera Cruz in San Marcos.

Further to her fall on Christmas Day in San Diego, she has been having a lot of pain in her lower back and I firmly believe that she has a hairline fracture and some bruising in her pelvis, perhaps her Ischial Tuberosity.

Next week's Wonderful Wednesday will be.... still researching something wonderful! As she is in her 92nd year we have some limitations, but we mean to make our visit here in SoCal a good time for her as well. So watch this space to find out about next weeks adventure!
