The One O'Clock Shuffle

The Peace River campground is divided into two sections. The upper section has full hookups and the lower section on the flood plain has only water and electric. Probably because it is a flood plain and the Peace River has been known to flood.
When you book into the campground you initially have to set up in the lower section and your name goes onto the waiting list for a site with sewer. Every day at 12:00 noon, the list of empty sewer sites goes up outside the office. Those people wishing to move to a full site, write the site numbers down and then drive or walk around and pick which sites are preferred by them. At 1:00pm everyone congregates at the Trading Post with their list of chosen sites. The names of those people on the waiting list are called out in the order that they checked in and the RVer then call out which site they want. If your chosen site has already been assigned, then you can choose another one, or wait for the next day. Your name stays on the list for 3 days.
Everyday there's two big movements of RVs. The first is in the morning before 11:00 am when campers are leaving the park to go elsewhere. The second is what we call the One O'Clock Shuffle is when people who have been assigned a sewer site move from their site in the overflow section to the full hook up section. We could not be bothered to move so opted to stay down by the river. It is also a beautiful spot.

  1. We have stayed at Peace River a few times, now really glad we had the full hook sites:)

  2. The One O'Clock Shuffle sounds like a pain. I think you two made the wise decision.

  4. May as well stay on a nice site, at least you have water and electric. We can dry camp in the desert for 10 days before having to move, no big deal.

  5. Water and electric are the most important. Dumping, no problem! I'd like the pretty site too.

  6. Hmmm ... seems like they have a decent way to manage FHU vs non, but the thought of moving would probably not sit well with me unless we were desperate to dump.
