I am trying to learn how to use Blogsy on my iPad. Somehow I managed to publish my latest blog post 5 times! Some of the posts had all 4 photos that I added, but some had only 2. Not sure what is going on but, rest assured, I will get to the bottom of this mystery!

Fleas in Florida!

I know that the South West is freezing at the moment, and the middle is wet, but over here in Florida we are having somewhat of a heat wave. AND WE LOVE IT! The temperatures have been in the 80s (upper 20s Celsius) during the day for the past week, a little cooler at night. The down side of this heat is that the fleas are like the locust plague of Egypt! Poor Timmy was infested with them, so much so that we had to go to the vet and get some tablets (Capstar), which will kill them. We have also bought flea spray and powder for inside the RV, special shampoo and a flea collar. Timmy is now flea free for the time being. We do give him the Advantage Multi liquid between his shoulder blades once a month, but that does not seem to keep the fleas at bay. If there are any readers who can give a word of advice, we would appreciate it.

Today we took a drive up to the Markets in Marion. A huge flea market, which has just about everything you could possibly need. Michael watched Timmy outside while I got lost inside, literally. I had to ask a few people how to get out. I came out with some tie downs, some small clamps, some suction hooks, a faux shammy, and a jar of orange blossom honey. The place was absolutely packed with people looking for that special something.

We also went to a another flea market further north which was a collection of other people's junk. What Michael calls a "real" flea market. Anyone for a tow hitch? Or maybe some old clothes that never even made it to Goodwill Thrift Store....or maybe they came from Goodwill!

Off to Three Flags, Wildwood.

As we were getting ready to leave, our new friends from Rolling Ridge came over to Bee's to get some propane and we were able to see them one more time before we left.

We have moved on to Three Flags RV Resort in Wildwood. Another 10 days of free camping! Love it! Our site is #52 in the first section of the park. A nice open view of the southern sky for the satellite dish, a press of a button and we are getting all the satellites. We are on the second site in the row and so far have no-one in front of us. The sites are wide and long. I think I am going to like it here.

Moving on again.

Tomorrow we move on, having been here for a week. We were here under our Coast to Coast membership (at $10 a night), which only allows a week at a time. So we are now going to a Thousand Trails campground. This time we are going to Three Flags in Wildwood.

After a week here, I must say that we have enjoyed a very relaxing week. Every week, on  Tuesdays,  they have a Chicken Dinner, which is quite famous in these parts.  But as the Tuesday that we arrived was New Year's Day,  there was no Chicken Dinner. We did, however,  get to partake in the fish fry on Friday. It is an "all you can eat", but we were only able to have one helping. Then on Saturday we went to the Bee Hive for the Ice Cream Social. $1 each for a huge bowl of ice cream, chocolate sauce and a sprinkle of nuts.

When we were at Orlando we met a couple from Montana, Jim and Jan. They were there in a motorhome on their Thousand Trails membership, but they also have a fifth wheel and a site at Rolling Ridge Resort, across the road from Bee's. We were very happy to be able to spend  an afternoon with them. Rolling Ridge is wholly owned by the site owners in the park. It is a lovely resort, with paved pads, very neat and clean. The sites have been developed and landscaped by the occupants. There are sites available for rent from the owners as well.   Sites rent for about $450 a month not including electricity.

We arrived here yesterday, after a very gruelling drive from Thousand Trails Orlando......NOT! It was a very easy 23 mile drive up the road. We were assigned our site, which is very narrow and the sewer drain is almost in the middle of the site. Needless to say, Michael drove right over it, but it does seem to be OK.

We eventually got lined up and hooked up, to find that the tree on the site blocked the satellite signal. Shoulda checked that first, I guess. Luckily we still have our little Carry Out, which has miraculously started working again, after it broke down in Maryland. Michael got that going and so he is happy. He can watch Velocity and a billion crime stories as well as all the news he wants to watch.

Bee's Resort is OK. Just OK. I guess we were spoiled at Orlando. We are squeezed into a long narrow site with a big diesel pusher on the passenger side. The good thing about that is that it blocks the hot afternoon sun so we have some shade to sit in. The motorhome that moved into the site next to us, is almost in our living area. But, hey, I have my own bed, kitchen and bathroom and it is only costing us $10 a night. The people here are very friendly and we have had some nice conversations with our neighbours.  Hoping to get to know more as we take part in some of the activities.

A few days ago Michael noticed that our slide toppers had started tearing off the insertion point on the motorhome, especially bad on the large slide. When we came into the park yesterday we saw a guy near the entrance who was advertising screen and awnings, so Michael asked him today if he could take a look at it. George came over and took a look at the topper and gave us a quote. We did not think that he would be able to fix it today.

After lunch we decided to take a drive over to Apopka lake to see if we could hike the Restoration area. We got there and could not find the right path to take and it also looked a bit dangerous to take a fluffy little white dog into an area where there are lots of alligators, so we packed in that idea and took the scenic drive home where we found George and his wife, Rosemary busy fixing the slide topper. He was able to just cut the torn area off, resew the rib in and refit it. $125 well spent. The small topper is not too badly damaged, so we can wait awhile before we see to that.

Today it was 81F, that is 27C,  Love the weather!
