Colorado River Oasis Resort

Where are we today?
Ehrenberg, Arizona.

The park here is almost empty. Most of the snowbirds have flown back to the Northern States and Canada. Our site is a pull through so no need to unhitch the car. We got here at about 2pm, so we had a chance to get the pile of laundry into the machines and go for a bike ride. The campground is on the eastern shore of the Colorado river which is running really strongly. The water is crystal clear and icy cold. Snow melt from the mountains, I suppose.

Today we are heading for Camp Verde south of Sedona. We will be there for 2 nights while we explore the area. I hope it doesn't rain! Skies are looking quite grey and heavy this morning.

Today we are getting the RV ready for the trip home. Throwing out the stuff that we don't need. Getting food ready. A bit of laundry. Tomorrow night we are at Colorado River Oasis RV Resort at Ehrenberg, Arizona.

We had rain all night and a few showers this morning, so we are hoping that the rain has passed us and we will have good weather for the rest of the trip....one can dream!

I have been checking out Harvest Hosts for Wineries and Farms where we can stop overnight for free. Far superior to staying at a Walmart. This is a great program. If you sign up, please say we referred you (Mike and Dee White), and we will both get an extra month onto our membership.

We will be going over to the house later on today as they are supposed to be finishing the redecorating. I will post photos later.

The weather is not looking good.

Where are we today?
Guajome County Park, Oceanside.

I have been planning the trip home and using Wunderground.com Trip Planner, it looks as if the first few days of our trip are going to be too good. Rain, Rain, Rain. So I am thinking that we may just hie up to I40 and drive straight across to my sister in Maryland and then home. We can go to Sedona and Santa Fe in the fall when we come south again. What do you think?

It is great that, with this lifestyle, our plans are made in Jello and we can change them at any time.

Free wifi tethering from Android phone!

Where are we today?

I have been using my Droid and USB tethering it with PDANet to my computer. I have now found an app called FoxFi which allows me to turn my Droid into a wifi hotspot. Fantastic! I now have access to wifi on my iPad as we travel and I don't have to pay for a 3G plan. One of the apps I really like is MyRadar, which allows me to see the weather radar as we travel. I LOVE technology!

We moved back to Guajome for the final few days. Work on the house in Ocean Hills is in full swing. We are having to do things like choose the new kitchen floor, buy new vents for the heating system, new face plates for the switches and outlets, new shower heads etc. I doubt that we will be able to stay here to see the house all repainted and fixed up, but Deanna will send us photos. Our first stop will be Quartzsite to see if Discount Solar is still open. (Update: They are closed for the summer). Then we head to Camp Verde RV Resort near Sedona, a couple of days of exploring, then to Santa Fe, Taos,  Colorado Springs and then east on the I70 and up into Indiana, Michigan and home. Arriving in Ontario on April 29th. Hoping to dodge any bad weather around us.

Vancouver is a no-go this time around.

Where are we today?
Ocean Hills Country Club

We are reverting back to the original route. The weather, cost of fuel, lack of open campgrounds and attractions have made us change our minds. So we will travel back through the centre of the US as planned. We are also not stopping at the Jayco factory as they are fully booked.
