We walked all the way to Mexico for lunch!

On January 8th we walked across the bridge to Nuevo Progreso, Mexico with our friends Peter and Margaret. There is no interaction with any kind of immigration or customs when you go in, but coming out is a different story.  We wandered in and out of a few stores and pharmacies and then went for lunch at Red Snapper. On the way back to the bridge we bought some vanilla and Margaret bought some ointment. we will go back again before we leave "The Valley" as there are a few other things I wish to get.

Here are some photos of our day.

The Rio Grande River.
Half way across
Beggars below the bridge
A very grand entrance to Mexico.
Lots of doctor, dentists, pharmacies and orthodontists
A lot of Americans and Canadians come across for cheap treatment.

I may go back for a couple of these colourful planters.

Margaret fell in love with this ceramic dog. $89!!

Michael and Peter waiting for the ladies, who had to go to the washroom.
I just loved the beautiful bougainvillea, allamanda (golden trumpet) and the palm trees.
Thank God for America and our Winter Texans.

  1. We have gone to Nuevo Progreso many times over the last several years. We used to eat all the time at the Red Snapper but found Arturo's is even better.

  2. Those oval planters are neat.... did you go back and get one?

    1. No, we haven't gone back yet. Before we leave the Valley in mid March we will.

  3. We too enjoyed our trip to Neuvo Progresso and are looking forward to going back again when we stay in the Yuma area next month.
