A wonderful afternoon with fellow bloggers!

A week or so back, I found out that a fellow blogger was nearby in Mission, Texas. Ruth and Ken are at Bentsen Palms RV Resort. We made the decision to meet up sometime while we are both in The Valley. Of course we also live about 40 kms from each other in Ontario, but have never met before, so what better time! Then along came Anne and Archie from Nova Scotia and we also follow their blog! Guess where they were staying? At Bentsen Palms, but would be leaving soon. So time was of the essence, we HAD TO make the trip over there and meet up with all of them.

We met at Anne and Archie's motorhome and what a wonderful afternoon we had. I felt as if we had been been friends for a long time, when in fact, we had never met. The afternoon went so fast, talking about other blogs we follow, what our plans are and a million other topics. There was so much more to talk about, but we will leave that for another time.

Bentsen Palms RV Resort is really nice. It has a very unusual layout with four circles of RVs around central areas and then another row of sites around the outside. It is part of a larger development called Bentsen Palm where you can buy a lot with a cabana on it or a house with covered RV parking.

Christmas in "The Valley".

At Kenwood RV Resort in La Feria, Texas.

On Christmas Day we had a lunch in the Rec Hall. The park provided ham and turkey and everyone who attended brought a dish. There was so much food. I took a pecan pie which was the first dessert to disappear! Even before we got to the dessert table! There were over 100 people there. It was quite the celebration!

We were sitting at this table about half way down.

I took a photo of this guy (Lyndall) because he reminded us so much of someone who lives in our home park.

Before the Festival of Lights in Hidalgo ended, we took a drive down there and checked it out. What a display. My photos may be a bit blurred because we were in the car and sometimes it was difficult to stop to get the perfect shot.

Every year Hidalgo puts on this display with different themes. There are over 3 million lights and it encompasses several city blocks. Here are a few of the pictures I took.

Visiting and Flea Market shopping with friends.

At Kenwood RV Resort, La Feria, Texas.

We have not had much good weather since we got to Texas, but when it was sunny and fairly warm we took the opportunity to visit friends from our home park in Ontario. We went to visit Peter and Margaret at Llano Grande RV Resort in Mission. Forgot to take photos, but we will be back there. Llano Grande is a very nice park!

Then we went to visit Fred and Darlene in Mission West RV Park. Also a very nice park, not as fancy as Llano Grande, but very friendly and it has everything you would need. I forgot to take photos when we were there. Their Maltese doggie is Timmy's half brother.

Our next visit was to see John and Maria, who live in Dallas, Texas. They summer up in Cedar Beach (our home base in Ontario). They are presently camping at Paul's RV Park in Brownsville. I did remember to get a couple of photos.

Not to be left out, Michael

Paul's is an older park and the sites are quite small, but John and Maria go back because of the people there. It is a very friendly park. Again it has everything that you would expect in an RV Park.

On the way home we saw this wonderful sunset.

Peter and Margaret initiated us into the Don Wes Flea Market. We had a quick visit there to go to the Shade Shack and check out some shades for the wind shield, but at $425 fitted, we decided to pass.

Very quiet on a Wednesday afternoon.
