We are in!

Where are we today?
Whitby, Ontario

We are at the house! After a week of running around moving furniture, boxes and gardening tools, we have left Cedar Beach Park and are now parked behind the house in Whitby. Suzanne and family move in on Saturday. We are going to sleep in the motor home until someone tells us we can't. There are some very curious looks from the neighbours.

The ground is really soft. We hope that we won't need a pull out!

16 Days!!

Where are we today?
Cedar Beach Park, Stouffville, Ontario

Just 16 days until we leave. What a crazy busy time we are having.

On Sunday we took our daughter, Suzanne and the two grandies to see the house. Her husband, Sandy, was at work. This was the first time that they had seen the inside. My instincts were right. Suzanne loved the house. It is practical enough for to be able to make it work for them, and quirky enough for her to fall in love with it.

There are some things that we need, cross bars for the roof rack on the car, a tow hitch, a lawnmower and garden equipment among them, I have been perusing Kijiji for Toronto and have found the cross bars and an almost new lawnmower. The car goes into the shop on Wednesday for the tow bar and a friend is getting rid of a pile of garden equipment as she has moved into a condo development. We just have to get snow removal equipment and that is about all for now.

Winter 2012-2013 travels.
I have been working on our upcoming trip and so far have come up with this route. This may change as we are not booking any RV resorts until the last minute.

I spoke (wrote) too soon....

Where are we today?
Cedar Beach Park, Stouffville, Ontario

We woke to below freezing this morning and wet snow. The car was covered in ice. Hello Winter!

Pretty much seals it for us. We will put the RV into temporary storage and move into the house. There will be an overlap of about 4 days after the kids move in which will be interesting, but as we will have a sofa bed there, we should be fine. It will give us a good idea of what fixes need to be done and to make sure all the systems are working.

6:00 pm About Turn!!

This afternoon I received a phone call from the Town of Whitby. After the refusal of our application to park on the property that I had submitted a couple of weeks ago, I sent another email explaining that we would not be parking on the road or on our driveway, but in the back of the property, behind the house and completely off the road. A very nice lady from the municipality called me, got the details and said it is OK! So we will be pulling in behind the house and parking there for the week. Not sure yet if we will stay in the RV or in the house, but at least we have the choice! We even took a drive to Whitby to measure the size of the gate. We will fit through with ease!

Below freezing temps for tonight, so we have put the 100 watt light into the plumbing bay to stop any freezing of the water connections. The propane cylinder is full for a night of heavy furnace use and we are all prepared.

It's all falling!

Where are we today?
Cedar Beach Park, Stouffville, Ontario

The leaves, the temperatures and the rain, that is. So far no snow yet. The cold has come early this year and we are wishing that we were already heading south. We get the keys to the house on October 29th and the kids move in on November 3rd and 4th. We will hang around for a few days to make sure everything is working before we leave on November 8th.

Cedar Beach is now almost empty and most people have either winterized or pulled their trailers out, so our walkabouts are very quiet and lonely. Timmy misses all his doggy friends.

I have been trying to come up with a place to stay from November 4th to 8th. I went onto the Boondockers Welcome website and found a place up the road. Just waiting for a reply from JB. Should you decide to join, then please put our names into the referral space as we will then both get an extra month added.

Our other options are to stay in local Walmarts and Canadian Tires etc. in the area, but we are not too keen on that idea as we will have to move the RV every day. There is a public dump in Oshawa and also one in Pickering, so that is not an issue.

I emailed Whitby town to find out if we could just park in the back yard of the house as there is lots of room, but they said no. We have also been offered a place to store the motorhome in Ajax for a week so that we can move into the house. So plenty of options. It will all fall into place.

Timmy looking ever so handsome.

3:59 PM Got a reply from JB and that option will probably not work, but I have found out that there is a campground right here in Musselman's Lake that is open all year. Going to go and check them out.

BEWARE OF EMAIL SCAMS

Over the past few days I have received emails supposedly from fellow bloggers. The gist of the email is the same, just the place where the incident has occurred is changed. Here is a copy of one of the emails.

Do not respond to these emails. They are scams. What concerns me is that the so called Senders are people whose names I recognize from RVing blogs that I read.

"Hello,

This message may be coming to you as a surprise but I need your help. Few days back we made an unannounced vacation trip to London, United Kingdom. Everything was going fine until last night when we got mugged on our way back to the hotel, all cash and credit card were stolen off us but luckily for us we still have our passports with us.

I've been to the Embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all they asked us to wait for 3 weeks but we can't wait till then and our flight leaves in few hours from now but we're having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the hotel bills, Dealing with foreign authorities here is extremely frustrating, It would take us about 24 hours to get everything straighten out before we could leave, we are freaked out at the moment...I really need your financial assistance.

Please let me know if you could help us out financially?"

Be Careful Out There!
